Titles
When planning our teaser, we had to look into the length of the titles on example teaser trailers. We decided that each title should be about 3-4 seconds long, so that the audience has time to read them and to make sure that they aren't on the screen for too long.
We came up with our own idea for a title sequence that could match our horror trailer:
We came up with our own idea for a title sequence that could match our horror trailer:
The first title would say this...
COMING TO YOU THIS OCTOBER
This is so the audience will know the sort of time the film is going to come out into cinemas.
The next title would say...
The next title would say...
FROM THE CREATORS OF THE EXORCIST
This makes the audience more familiar with who the film is directed by, when relating to other films they have watched and may have liked, this makes the film more intriguing to the audience.
The third title would say...
The third title would say...
SOMETIMES GOING CRAZY
This title is split from the last to cause suspense for the audience and wonder what will come next in the titles as it will explain something to the audience.
The last title would say...
The last title would say...
IS THE ONLY WAY OUT.
This almost finalises the trailer and leaves the audience wanting to know what happens in the film and what is causing them to go crazy
Real-Life Titles
To complete our research we looked at some horror teaser trailers in order to know what we needed to put into our own trailer. By looking at other trailers we also gained the knowledge we needed for the making of our own titles. when looking at the trailers we learnt that:
- The actor's and actresses names were not mentioned in the titles, unlike the opening title sequences we did perviously. This is because it makes the film seem less realistic and idolises it around the starring character.
- The date and title of the film HAD to be in the trailer, otherwise no one will know when and what the film is, this means no audience and therefore, no money.
- Ratings are good to have in the railer as it makes the film more attractive to an audience due to the opinions of other people.
Let Me In
This title has a bold, white font, this makes it stand out against the plain background so it is easily read. The quote reads 'In a quiet town' this starts a story off for the audience making them curious as to what is going to happen, this is also effective as it only tells one sentence, this means that there is more to come and makes the audience question what it is and continue watching the trailer.
This title is similar to the previous one as it has the same text and colour. This as the same context idea as the previous title but it has another quote of the story. This again does not complete the story, causing audiences to continue viewing the trailer to see what comes next.
This third trailer is the same as both of the previous ones. It has the same text and font and it almost rounds up the storyline without completing it. This then makes the audience want to view the actual film.
The background changes on this title as we are getting more into the trailer. The font is clouded away slightly and the background is icy to represent the film. This title tells us who directed the film so that the audience can relate it to other films they have watched.
This title is similar to all of the other titles, it has the same icy background and font, which is then continued onto the rest of the titles. This title tells the audience when the film is due out so they know and talk about it ready o watch it.
The background and text are similar to the previous title with the icey background and style of font. the quote 'She will keep you safe' continues the previous story to hook the audience in, this is also the 'Let Me In' tagline.
This title is the second title to begin retelling the story. It reads the quote 'She will keep you close' once again this is part of the tagline for the Let Me In film and is on the icy background.
This is the last narrative title, it ends the story old but still leaves the audience wanting more so that they can watch the film and find out what actually happens in the film. The icy background is still there but is slowly fading away.
This is the final title. It shows the audience the title of the film. The title is in a different font and colour, this makes it stand out amongst the other titles so we know this one is important. In this trailer the icy background as re-appeared bolder than before to also show us that the text is important.
